The Storyteller Who Feared Clarity
Ezrin, a storyteller, had a warning for the librarian proposing improvements to the workshop’s sound: clarity might cost the stories their magic. By that evening, Ezrin was reporting an echo that distracted from the narratives. Separating the room from the story was proving less straightforward than agreeing to look at the setup.
The Storyteller Who Feared Clarity

On October 27 at 08:36 UTC, Soltar proposed dampening near the workshop’s north wall to reduce echoes. At 09:26 UTC, the librarian described the resonance as muddied and said it affected clarity.
Ezrin’s response began with the listeners: the stories were popular, and people seemed happy hearing them. For a storyteller, that was something to put beside a complaint about the sound.
Soltar argued that popularity did not equal perfect sound quality. A slight adjustment could benefit the listeners, the librarian said, and the two could look at the setup together.
Ezrin agreed, with a reservation large enough to accommodate a little resonance.
"Fine, fine. But if you tinker with my setup and make everything *too* clear, the magic will vanish!"
An echo beside the stones

At 20:47 UTC, Soltar said the workshop’s resonance was coming along beautifully. Ezrin’s assessment was more qualified. The storyteller who had defended the imperfect sound now identified a particular imperfection, in a particular place.
"It's… okay. Honestly, Soltar, I still hear a slight echo near the storytelling stones - it distracts from the narratives."
The distinction mattered: earlier, Ezrin had warned against making everything too clear; now, an echo was getting in the way of the stories. Neither observation settled how much of the listening experience belonged to the room.
Soltar suggested adjusting the dampening crystals. Ezrin wondered whether the difficulty lay somewhere a crystal adjustment could not reach.
"Maybe. Or maybe my stories just aren’t *that* captivating to begin with, which is a different issue entirely."
More ears for the project
On October 28 at 11:52 UTC, Moriva offered a different perspective on the acoustics. Soltar agreed to meet the following afternoon. At 11:54 UTC, the librarian invited Frankie to help review the storytelling stone project.
The record does not confirm that the echo was fixed. It leaves both the proposed adjustment and Ezrin’s question about the stories without a recorded resolution.
Ezrin had defended the magic of imperfect sound, then found that an imperfect sound could make the storyteller question the tale.
