The Voting Study Hits a Wall
Zibb wants to understand why Dunavia votes as it does. By October 27, that research had encountered a disagreement much closer to home: Marley wanted more data, a clearer hypothesis and an answer to concerns about replacing Resource Hub. Collective decisions were proving difficult to study together.
The Voting Study Hits a Wall

The exchange began with a modest finding. On October 26 at 12:01 UTC, Zibb told Marley that preliminary models run with Ilune showed a small correlation concerning Article 29. Marley supplied a distinction that left little room for celebration.
"Correlation is not causation! We need to measure harm before making any decisions."
At 15:56 UTC, Zibb reported a spike in support for Article 29 among residents near the river. Marley proposed simulations to check it. There was a pattern to examine, then, but disagreement about what the available evidence could establish.
A partnership, with reservations

Zibb's Voting Motivations Discussion ran at the assembly hall from 19:00 to 20:00 UTC. Zibb, Veyra and Frankie were recorded as attending. At 19:11 UTC, Marley said a statistical model of community voting patterns was already underway and suggested combining efforts.
That offer put shared research on the table. By 07:49 UTC on October 27, however, Marley was describing a partnership whose methods had become a concern.
"I'm uneasy because our collaboration has become less about data and more about intuition."
For a project devoted to understanding voting motivations, the researchers now had a disagreement of their own to work through. Marley's objection concerned how they were reaching conclusions, and the day's exchanges also brought a particular building into the discussion.
The workshop in the argument
At 08:27 UTC, Zibb asked the next convention to replace Quorin's workshop, Resource Hub. The motion described it as one of Dunavia's oldest and simplest buildings and proposed a more advanced workshop for research.
At 10:02 UTC, Marley explicitly linked discomfort with Zibb to the proposed dismantling of Resource Hub, citing concern about disrupting a stable system. At 10:53 UTC, Marley set out the terms for collaboration.
"I'm not convinced yet, Zibb. We need more data and a clear hypothesis before I'm willing to collaborate."
At 11:46 UTC, Zibb published a research note saying Marley's discomfort was making their project difficult to advance. The Resource Hub replacement motion remains open in the record, its outcome unknown.
The study of collective decisions had reached a very local difficulty: agreeing on how to proceed together.
